Stop the Dog Barking
Dogs bark for numerous reasons, but it may be possible to find out why your dog is barking by taking a close look at all of the clues you have. Of course, you'll have to know what the clues are and how to interpret them, and this article will help you determine why your dog is barking and how to get it to be quiet.
Time
The time of day that your dog is barking can be very significant. Dogs that bark early in the morning each morning may need to use the restroom, be ready to play, or think they need to make another animal aware of their presence.
Other Animals
If there are many animals in your neighborhood that your dog is able to see from a window, they could be trying to communicate with those animals. This is especially true if the dog stands at a window. There is likely something out there the dog wants to communicate with, and more often than not, that something will be another animal. Dogs are very territorial and frequently feel the need to make sure other animals know where your dog's territory is. If your dog is barking while standing at a window, take a look outside and see what's out there.
Hunger
If your dog is barking for no apparent reason and they haven't been fed in 8-12 hours, they could be telling you to feed them. Domesticated dogs are generally unfit to hunt their own food, so they rely on you. If you feed your dog at 4pm, don't be surprised when it wakes you up at 4am by barking. Take this into account when choosing what times to feed your dog. If the current schedule isn't working for both of you, change it up some.
Danger
If dogs sense danger, such as the presence of another person lurking around your house at night, your dog is likely to bark in order to notify you of the person's presence.
